These pictures were taken at the cemetery on Monday. I found some happiness hidden between the headstones.

Do you ever have one of those moments where you sit back and think “How did I get here?”  It’s crazy to think about how you got the places you have been.  But I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.  I think my reason for everything happening in my life is for the purpose of finding true pure happiness.   For example, I grew up in the country where we didn’t always rely on tvs or computers to entertain us.  It really taught me how to enjoy the simple things in life.  I also think about how grateful I am in my current job as a career services consultant because I have been an unfulfilling career before, and traveled a long road to find a career that makes me happy.

But it’s odd to think about how tragedies can bring you happiness, too.  For example, I never knew how precious life is until I endured an extreme amount of pain and illness.  I try to live each day to the fullest because I feel lucky to be living everyday.  This has recently been reiterated by the tragic passing of my uncle in a motorcycle accident just 5 weeks ago.  As tragic as it was and as much as I have struggled with this loss, I still find solace in the fact that possibly 4 people got to spend one more day with their family because of the organs my uncle donated.  Plus, he left a miracle for two people who were once blind to see again thanks to the donations of his corneas… It really gives me chills to think about it.

Sometimes it’s hard to find something positive out of tragedy or even anything we do;  it’s one of life’s challenges.  So my challenge for you is to find one thing today that you or someone did for you that made you happy and take some time to cherish it.   After all, we will never get to live today again.
