Did you know that Purdue has found possible paths to curing cancer? However, some potentially life saving ideas can not be pursued due to funding. While researchers are able to obtain grants to research, there may not be funding to push these discoveries to trial. For one particular discovery at Purdue, it took nearly 20 years for it to finally make it to trial. 20 YEARS.
I didn’t know this either until a few weeks ago when I listened to a woman from the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research speak about donating. Coincidentally, my grandmother found out that a mass on her kidney was malignant just three days after this. All of us have likely been touched by cancer in some way And it’s likely that it will affect us in one way or another again in the future.
In honor of Hammer Down Cancer Week here at Purdue, I wanted to share this info with you. What a great cause to donate to! I will be wearing my pink to the football game Saturday! Boiler up and Hammer Down Cancer!
